CHORÉE

|
A performance created in La Cour de la Bellone in Brussels
within the framework of the Ars Musica Festival 1999 and the 4th Charleroi/Danses Biennial March 1999 The performance which we have entitled Chorée proposes - by way of four modern music works, two of which are choreographed - to introduce the spectator into the sudden jolts of a beauty which, according to the wish of André Breton, would be convulsive. The starting point: a difference of potential. As when bolts of lightning, with the bursts of energy they provoke, weave the moving and unstable bonds between opposing pairs: fascination/repulsion (Salto), periodicity/aperiodicity (Klavierstück IX), dream/reality (Siorram), normality/abnormality (Chorée). The work was born from the endlessly renewed attempt to reestablish balance. |
